About The.Gear.Locker and Our History
I began playing airsoft at the age of 12. While the guns were cool, nothing made me as excited as shopping online or at the local surplus store for gear. At 18,I joined KVB, a group of KSK reenactors in the USA whose kit list was incredibly involved and difficult to get. Not long after, I joined BAE, a Vietnam war reenactment group and event company. The variety and nuance of USGI equipment intrigued me. From there, I built more and more impressions, using equipment spanning half a century. At 26, I picked up my first sewing machine for free and made my first piece of gear...
At each stage, the equipment was what I was excited about. I began making YouTube videos to show what I've collected, share what I've learned, and encourage others to become excited about the equipment. (RIP Airsoft.In.CT.) Through opportunities like this, I've met KSK operators, Veterans, Airsofters, creators, and many gremlins. But so many of them share the same appreciations I do.
But I've always felt myself wanting something more. Something built in exactly the style I want. Exactly in the colors and patterns, with the special functions one might need. I wanted gear that was so incredibly rare, nobody even makes reproductions of it. Which is why I decided to do what I have always done, have fun and make it happen.
Gear has always been a point of learning and excitement. And I am thrilled to create equipment that I would want to have. Tailor made, with a reenactor and nylon nerd's frame of mind.
